Laser processing seems to be exceptionally clean and safe, but during its operation, harmful dusts and process gases are generated that can penetrate into the human body. In turn, laser radiation that is invisible to the naked eye can contribute to skin diseases and damage eyesight. Therefore, it is very important to effectively protect the employee and create system solutions that will quickly and efficiently result in safe work in a metalworking plant.
The development of such a system protection package should include three aspects:
Safe work with a laser is mainly associated with the use of personal protective equipment (the person operating the laser system), as well as collective protection measures used in the room where the laser cutter works. An additional solution is the systematic training of employees in the correct operation of the most modern machine, in our case, the BySmart Fiber 3015 ber laser, Bystronic Fiber 4000.
The personal protective equipment includes, among others glasses, including goggles, protective clothing, e.g. gloves, coat, pants, apron. However, in the case of collective protection measures, we can take into account protective curtains and screens placed around the device, extraction and ltration systems or other activities with adapting the room to safety requirements. Safety in the workplace with a laser also means clear marking of the entrance to the room or the use of appropriate lighting. You should also remember about the mat nish of walls and floors (counteracting specular re ections), and you should avoid mirrors and other elements that can reflect laser radiation.
